Welcome to the course

Welcome to the Design for Manufacture & Assembly module.  This course will last four weeks and will be delivered live via Webex sessions.

This module introduces you to the main principles of Design for Manufacture & Assembly:  the methods used to ensure quality standards, reduce delivery lead-time and provide a reduction in product costs. The module will also provide an overview of some of the digital technologies used in manufacturing.

The course will offer a basic foundation in DFMA approaches, and will incorporate case studies relevant to the Naval Ships or wider BAE systems context.

This course is a pilot for BAE Systems and so we welcome any suggestions or feedback at any time; please contact us at cpd@uws.ac.uk.

Welcome to the Manufacturing Systems Engineering module.

This course will last four weeks and will be delivered live via Webex sessions. This module introduces you to modern manufacturing with three areas of emphasis: manufacturing processes, manufacturing systems and manufacturing management. The course exposes you to integration of engineering and management disciplines for determining manufacturing rate, cost, quality and flexibility. Topics includes design for manual and automated work-cells, quality, manufacturing systems, process planning and cell layout, and industrial management.

An introduction to the application of digital technologies will also be given.

The course will offer a foundation in Manufacturing Systems Engineering approaches, and will incorporate case studies relevant to the Naval Ships or wider BAE systems context.
