It is the intention of this module to provide a link between pre-university level and university level mathematics and in doing so enable underpinning to be in place prior to further university mathematics, science or engineering study. This may be of particular importance where mathematics may be taught discretely or inherently within another subject as part of a programme of study.
It is likely to be of interest to students who may not have undertaken SCQF Level 6 Mathematics or who may not have undertaken this subject recently.
The module is split into six distinct areas which will help prepare students for SCQF Level 7 study, these areas are: Numbers, Algebra, Functions, Geometry, Trigonometry and Calculus.
The module is comprised of a number of - end of topic - formative assessments and three - end of learning outcome - summative assessments.
This module may be viewed as a threshold module within the context of the University’s Curriculum Framework.
